Biomancer is a Sci-Fi Monster Taming and Battling Turn-based strategy video game for the PC. Raise, train, splice, and fight a variety of unique creatures to become the strongest Biomancer the galaxy has ever seen!

Utilizing bioengineered synthetic creatures as surrogate warriors, humanity spread throughout the Galaxy in conquest. Now centuries later unified under one rule, the Galaxias Imperium relies on these creatures and their trainers, Biomancers, to uphold and maintain a fragile peace.

Shortly after The Great Conquest by the Galaxias Imperium, infighting between the great houses of humanity predictably broke out, and the consequences were dire. To put an end to the civil war new laws were enacted that forbid direct conflict between humans and instead, all disputes would be settled by Judicial Duels between Biomancers. The creatures Biomancers raised, trained, and controlled for war would now serve as proxy combatants in these duels.

In the arena, a creature and its Biomancer can alter the course of history. How will you train your creature, and together, how will you shape the future of the Imperium?

Creatures are a Biomancer’s weapon and there are a large variety of diverse breeds to choose from before going into battle. They come in all shapes and sizes, each with their own preferences, diet and nutritional needs, attribute affinities, and unique genetic traits that further enhance or diminish their abilities. Their genomes are also spliceable with one another, leading to a multitude of hybrids and variants that alter their appearances and attributes further.

During the Great Conquest, the Splicing Guilds and Biomancers worked together to bioengineer synthetic creatures for the purpose of invading planets whose climate and composition were inhospitable for human warriors. They often drew inspiration from all manner of ancient earth mythology and legends, everything from devilish Imps and mighty Dragons to energetic Pixies and majestic Phoenixes.

Train and battle a variety of breeds to learn their respective strengths, weaknesses, and playstyles. Experiment with splicing to further reinforce those strengths while correcting any undesirable weaknesses. Discover powerful creature hybrids combinations. With each generation getting one step closer to creating the perfect creature!

When a creature is ready to retire, either through injury or age, it can be immortalized in a Genome Print. These prints contain inheritable stats, traits, and abilities from your previous champions. Experiment to find favorable compatible matches to strengthen the next generation of creatures and unlock their hidden potential!

The Splicing guild will assist in your experimentations, for a fee, and offer insights and advice or help apply mutagens to augment the possible outcomes of a splice. Both the good and the bad of retired creatures are inherited in offspring so a little gene cutting and curation of a creature’s ancestry will be important to manage. As traits are expressed and selected for the odds of future inheritance increase. These Traits can affect the personality, physique, affinity, and combat effectiveness of your new creatures. If a Biomancer carefully curates prints and splices they can create a powerhouse champion based on generations of training, work, and battle!

Further system details will be in our upcoming DevLogs.

A creature's arena prowess is a reflection of its training before the battle. A Biomancer’s ability to train and raise a creature is key to combat success.

All training takes place at your gym. Gyms will have 6 unique modifiable training routines, one for each stat type, and a food synthesizer that generates hundreds of unique meals for your creature. These meals vary in nutritional value and flavor so pay attention to your creature's needs and likes when it's feeding time.

During training, creatures will display unique personality traits to learn and manage. A Biomancer must monitor a creature’s: Hunger, Obedience, Fatigue, Memory, and Stress during training to maximize each creature's stat gains. If not managed a creature can become injured during training or battle, which could lead to losing gains, losing matches and reputation, or even in severe situations, death.

Biomancers compete in Tournaments organized by the GBF, Galactic Battle Federation, which consists of a series of duels. These duels take place on a tactical grid with commands being given to each creature simultaneously. Anticipating your opponent's next actions while maintaining strategic positioning is the key to victory!

The GBF, Galactic Battle Federation, ranks all Biomancers and Tournaments they organize. Rookies start at the bottom, Rank E, and fight their way to the top, Rank S, by competing in and winning progressively higher-ranked Tournaments. Biomancer’s with high ranks and reputations are more likely to be invited to special event tournaments, attract the attention of new wealthier sponsors, or are chosen to settle more impactful and serious conflicts.

Once a Biomancer enters an officially sanctioned tournament they must face off against multiple opponents in one-on-one combat! Combat runs on a simultaneous turn-based system. Creatures choose their actions during the planning phase in secret, then during the execution phase actions are carried out depending on their speed, fastest to slowest. A successful Biomancer must think multiple turns ahead while anticipating their opponent's every move. Positioning is paramount as battles take place on a 2D grid where creatures can choose to move forward toward their opponents or back away. Attack ranges vary, some creatures may focus on close-range combat while others prefer long-range. Knowing where to position on the field to avoid hard-hitting attacks from your opponents while staying in your optimal ranges will be key to victory!
