Creature Reveal: Dragon
Mythos:
Casting back to humanity's earliest legend splicers looking to strike awe into the hearts of their enemies replicated a creature found through all early cultures, The Dragon. The Dragon of medieval times, typified as a hell-breathing leviathan, became the mainstay creation of splicing. Wyverns, drakes, and luck dragons appeared as genetic off-shoots as guardians and security as the galaxy was explored and dominated.
The pride of those who could tame a Dragon was only matched by the creature's own. A Tamer that could bend the will of a prideful Dragon without being devoured or incinerated found reward and burden. Tamers of Dragons were closely and jealously guarded by sharp teeth and fierce flame. But in return for that power, a tamer faces the cost of a dragon's daily hunger. The expense of feeding and the time spent maintaining control of a Dragon relegated them to the collections and protection of the wealthy. The cost made a Dragon a status symbol of wealth and power of the great houses that owned one. A tamer brave of heart enough to face a wild pride and aggression of a Dragon: discovers an ally that will dominate arena battles and ensure the status and cache of their house in society.
Stats:
The Dragon is a bruiser-classed creature. A living tank protected with a natural fortitude and shielded in nearly impenetrable scales. Defense is a dragon's primary stat. Damage-focused builds use a Dragons strength to Headbutt, bite, stomp and club enemies. Intelligence builds use flame attacks to corner and burn enemies while bathing the field in a searing fire. Dragons can take to the air to avoid counterattacks and close distance at the cost of stamina being quickly drained. This creates a movement disadvantage on landing. It is a tamers choice on how a dragon takes the field. Will your Dragon be a fiendish beast of flame or a creature of talon club and teeth?
Abilities:
Dragons have the skills of a strength-based attacker with headbutts, bites, and tail clubs used to overwhelm defenses with raw damage. Flame abilities can be used to burn enemies or create damaging field tiles. Flight lets Dragons avoid ground-based attacks and rapidly cross the battlefield bypassing grounded creatures. On landing, a Dragon is vulnerable and needs time to recover stamina before continuing its assault.
